Nocchi's Hoagie Stand

Nocchi's Hoagie Stand, established in 1957 as "Shorty" Nocchi's Hoagie Stand, is a staple amongst the local eateries in Sayre, Pennsylvania. Specifically, it's the home of the Double Cheese Whammie. And if you're ever in town, you need to get one.

This was another attempt to get my name out there in the business community. The client had made for themselves, with markers and white poster board cut to size, artwork to fit into slots on either side of their napkin holders. Seeing the opportunity, I offered to design something that would better represent the business, and improve the overall look on the tables and counter tops of the restaurant. The trade would be they would tell anyone who asked about the design who did it.

Capitalizing on the year the business was opened (1957), I used the tail fins from two different colored 1957 Chevy's as the main imagery. Given the "classic" look of the chrome, I also created a pseudo-logo to look like chrome, capitalizing on that stylish 50's feel from diner's of the era. To further drive home (no pun intended) the "classic" nature of the eatery, I used typography embossed on the fin to make the design complete.
